Tenneco CSR report
Business Goal
Tenneco’s Sustainability Report communicates the company’s ESG progress to customers while supporting corporate reporting and compliance requirements. It strengthens Tenneco’s reputation by demonstrating its commitment to environmental responsibility, people, and responsible governance.
The report’s visual design makes complex sustainability information clear, engaging, and accessible, while creating a consistent experience across the report, corporate website, social media, and video content.
My Role
I led the complete visual design of Tenneco’s annual Sustainability Report for four consecutive years, including the latest 2025 report. I established the creative direction and independently designed every page using content and data provided and approved by the ESG team.
My responsibilities included cover design, page layouts, photography selection and treatment, charts, icons, infographics, and final production files for print and digital distribution. I also extended the report’s visual system across Tenneco’s sustainability website, LinkedIn and Instagram carousels, and supporting video content.
Creative Direction
The 2025 visual concept was designed to build trust and reinforce Tenneco’s reputation as a responsible, technology-driven leader in the automotive industry. The cover connects advanced automotive technology with environmental responsibility, reflecting how Tenneco’s innovations contribute to a more sustainable future.
I introduced a new theme and visual direction for the 2025 report while maintaining consistency with Tenneco’s brand guidelines. A clean, minimal layout, disciplined use of brand colors, clear typography, carefully selected photography, and structured graphic elements made the ESG content feel professional, accessible, and credible.
Design Process
The primary challenge was organizing a large volume of complex ESG content and transforming detailed data into clear visual stories within a demanding production schedule.
I began by establishing a flexible grid, clear page hierarchy, and reusable templates. I then developed a consistent system for charts and infographics that simplified complex information without compromising accuracy. This design system maintained consistency across all 52 pages while making production and revisions more efficient.
I collaborated closely with the ESG team throughout the project. They reviewed individual sections as they were developed and conducted a comprehensive final review before publication. This process ensured that the content, data, charts, and sustainability claims were accurate and approved.
Scope and Delivery
I completed the 52-page report in approximately six weeks while continuing to manage my regular design responsibilities. The reusable templates, structured grid, and consistent infographic system allowed me to work efficiently, respond to feedback, and deliver the final publication on schedule.
I also independently translated the report into an integrated digital campaign. This included updating Tenneco’s sustainability website and producing supporting video and social media carousels. For LinkedIn and Instagram, I transformed copy supplied by the social media manager into concise, visually engaging stories optimized for each platform.
